| Hello
and welcome to our 2009 Village Fete… and Happy Fathers' Day!
Do you remember last
year's Fete? How could we forget it?!! Gales so strong that they made
national television, (although, amazingly, no mention of our Fete despite
losing no less than SIX marquees in the space of 20 minutes). It was all
hands to the rescue and with the help of many stalwarts the show went
on, albeit slightly modified.
Amazingly we still
managed to make more money than the previous year and, with a float held
over for this year, the committee has made the following donations to
local enterprises.
SNITTERFIELD ACTIONING CLIMATE CHANGE:
£150.00 was awarded towards Electronic Monitors and Sensors which
are available for villagers to calculate how much energy they are using
at one time.
SNITTERFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL:
£450.00 to buy musical equipment
SNITTERFIELD VILLAGE HALL FUND:
£600.00 to help towards the purchase of new cooker. A wireless microphone
system and speakers were also suggested.
SNITTERFIELD THURSDAY CLUB:
£500.00 to help towards the cost of the coaches hired for trips
out.
SNITTERFIELD VILLAGE FIREWORKS DISPLAY:
£500 was donated to the firework display
SNITTERFIELD FOOTBALL CLUB:
£200.00 for the football club for new goal posts
If you live in Snitterfield
or its surrounding area and have a local project which needs funding or
have an idea which would benefit the village and would like the Fete Committee
to allocate some funds this year please let us know.
This year there will
be a Bar and Pig-Roast, Teas, Five-a-side Football Tournament, Dog Handling
Display and Circus Skills Workshop, Go-Karts and many other attractions.
As always we thank
you for your support and we hope you, especially the Dads amongst you,
enjoy your day and come back next year.
The Village
Fete Committee
The Fete Committee is made up of representatives of interested individuals
and village groups such as The Snipe Magazine, WI, Garden Club, Church,
and the School. We are always looking for more members. We would love
to hear from anyone who would like to get involved, either with sponsorship,
advertising, donating raffle prizes, or just helping on the day.
Our Aims are:
To promote local groups and provide a platform for them to fundraise for
themselves
To provide a good quality local amenity for the village
To build up a fund with which to help support village groups, charities
or individuals who may apply for monies to fund local projects or local
individuals undertaking fundraising for larger charities.
The Fete raises money from
o Programme advertising
o Commercial Stalls
o Raffle
o Gate takings
o BBQ takings
