| The first bowling
green was laid by voluntary help on the site by the old Trevelyan Institute,
situated in Smith's Lane around 1924/5. In 1926 a local celebrity Mrs Edith Dickens presented a cup for the singles winner. This cup is still being challenged for today, as the Men's Singles Championship. In 1929, after the death of Lady Trevelyan, the Institute was converted into three houses, but Mr. R.C. Trevalyan, son of the late Lady Trevalyan, offered £500 towards a new Village Hall with provision for a bowling green and a tennis court. The new village hall was formally opened by Mrs. R.C. Trevalyan.In the years between, a local resident in Frogmore Road, converted his front lawn into a bowling green, again laid entirely voluntarily by local labour, and many games were played until the green by the village hall was completed. In 1935, a 'three rink' green had been prepared and a very keen bowls club came once again into existence. The Challenge Cup was played for within the club and many friendly matches arranged with neighbouring teams. When Mr. Griffin, the voluntary groundsman, left the district there was no one to take care of the green and no games were played for quite a time. In 1964/5 a few keen bowling members restarted the task of bringing the green up to playing standards and the Bowling Club was reformed. Fixtures with neighbouring clubs were arranged as were competitions within the club for the 1965 season. The club became a member of the Warwickshire County Bowls Association in 1965, and at the AGM held on Friday, 21st October 1966, it was agreed to join the 'Kineton League' in time for the 1967 season. In 1973, with the demise of cricket , the ground became available for a new bowling green to be laid in one corner of the field and the use of the old cricket pavilion for the clubhouse. The slope at the corner towards the Wolverton Road was 1 in 6 and in order to get a full size green, a lot of infilling and building up of soil was done before the green could be laid. This took over six months to build up and settle. The final 'mole' drainage and top surface was completed in time for the 1974 season. Since then, many improvements to the green and Clubhouse have been made to achieve a fine attractive Clubhouse and a firm playing green.
