Snitterfield Brass Band

I have two photos of what is presumably the Snitterfield Brass Band taken 1888 or earlier. They were brought to Australia in 1888 by my grandfather, 16 year old John Thomas Tansey. I know he was a member of the band in 1887 and I think he is one of the younger musicians in these photos. I would like to make e-mail contact with any of your local historians. I know in the past the Women's Institute was very knowledgeable about their village history; or perhaps some of the older members of your community might still have similar photos which were handed down to them. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. I can be contacted at btur@tpgi.com.au 524

My family have been involved in local brass bands for 5 generations. I have recently been researching my mothers family line and came across the Snitterfield Brass band once again but this time realised that some of my mothers family line the Chatterleys were members of the band. One appears to be the old man Uncle Jack who my Gran used to take me to visit. He lived with Auntie May who I think was his twin and made delicious cakes. Uncle Jack is the young lad at the front of the picture with the drumsticks. I would welcome any further information and would be happy to send you anything I find 977
