Calling Clive O'Connell, it sounds as if you have you have a fascinating story about the maniac who escaped from Hatton, (was he held captive in the cellar?)and was captured and held by Mr Bullock in the Snitterfield Arms till the police arrived.I would love to hear more about this for the book I am writing about my Dad Harry Rose, who farmed at Hatton Bank from 1953. Also calling Christopher Cusworth, who lived at Hatton before us in 1952, can't wait to hear more about your time there, with the photo of the Christmas dinner for all the farm labourers in the kitchen. I have lots of pics and funny stories about Hatton Bank, Not quite sure how to put this delicately, but erm, here goes, "You show me yours and I'll show you mine!" Please please please, reply here or call 01752 291607, (Plymouth). I will phone you right back to save your phone bill.

Hi Carol,
I was technical assistant and later farm manager to Clyde Higgs 1947-1958
It was Harry Cusworth who lived at the bank before your Dad and Francis Keable our dairy foreman lived there after your dad left.
Do you know any of the guys who were on the farm with your dad?
I am a Canadian and live on Vancouver Island but I came back to the UK on vacation last year and visited the old haunts - most of them tarted up since my day but Hatton Rock was in a sad state of disrepair.
Good to hear from you Carol

Hello Malcolm
Hello Malcolm O'Connell. We may have been at Snitterfield School together, I was in Mrs Spurlings class in 1954, I was born in 1946. I don't really remember any names as it was so long ago, although I do recall a Peter Ballenger and also a Clive. There was a sloping field with bushes in it beside the school; probably built on now, in which we did a summer fete and performed a short Shakespeare play, I was one of the witches of Macbeth. At the age of 7 I cycled to school alone from Hatton Bank Farm, not much traffic around then, or if it was raining Dad took me to school on the tractor.
