SNITTERFIELD GARDEN CLUB

Annual General Meeting and Show Report 2008

Throughout the evening, there was a real buzz in the Village Hall. A good turnout, great produce despite the wet, wet, summer. Super children's entries. Well done everyone
Chairman Mlargaret Tweed welcomed the founder Chairman Lesley Fall, judges and the many members to the Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, September 2nd, It has been a busy and very successful year with an ever increasing membership. This has helped to sustain the fees charged by the high calibre of speakers for which the club is renowned. The general account shows a healthy balance so the annual subscription of £8 will stand for 2008/2009. Prize money awarded for lst and 2nd places in the Produce Show has been increased. Throughout the year, members have enjoyed a wide range of gardening subjects, presented by celebrity gardeners, events, visits and outings,
The Chairman openly welcomed members wishing to contribute more to organising or supporting community events to come forward as help is so appreciated. Ann Barker, Jenny Jones and Carole Pryor or were nominated and voted as new Committee members. Christine Drake was thanked for all her efforts propagating, plarits over the last six years earning a substantial revenue. There was a plea for volunteers to continue her endeavours as Christine now wishes to retire as with Jacquie Mayer has work commitments. Gwen Smith was thanked for her organisation of the raffles each month, Gillian Waldron for continually tempting club members with her delicious cakes and Maureen Macdonald for her help with tending the village pots,
A cheque to the amount of £50 was presented to Freya and Harry, pupils at Snitterfield Primary School to be spent on something special for the School Garden
Yvonne Hanson delivered the Secretaries Report outlining another superb year of talks and events.
The AGM ended at 8pm Complimentary Wine was served while members socialised until the Prize Giving.
