Well done
to everyone who endeavoured to enter "something" in the Produce
Show. It really was a brilliant start to the gardening year to have
so much enthusiasm and interest and was by far the best attended ever.
We were delighted to welcome the many new members and particularly Agnes
Penrice whose standard of produce has set a new challenge. Brian Cook,
the judge, remarked the standard of flowers were the best he had seen
this year.
The children made an excellent effort
achieving wonderfully
creative results which made the judging extremely difficult. A special
well done to you all!
The Chairman in her
speech stressed the success of the Gardening Club was without doubt
due to the enthusiasm and support from the members. During the year
the Club has enjoyed some of the best speakers on the gardening circuit
and the coming year's programme is equally stimulating. Membership is
only £8 a year, which is outstanding value
After several years Derek Bull has resigned as treasurer and we thank
him for his tremendous contribution to the club. Peter Turner has volunteered
to fill his place. Jacquie Maiden was also elected on to the committee.
The committee were unanimously thanked for their organisation and work
throughout the year
