| Councillor
Hobbs reported that, at a recent meeting of the Area Committee, the matter
of Highways Issues was considered. It was resolved that preference should
be given to funding smaller projects Following the presentation by Councillor Stammers at the meeting, he intended to make application for funding to alleviate the situation in Highfield Close He would also apply for funding for some type of traffic calming adjacent to the Sports Club The Chairman suggested that consideration be given to changing the road markings in School Road to give direction priority |

| 09. | CARBON FOOTPRINT PROJECT |
| Councillor Jones reported on a meeting of the Snitterfield Low Carbon Group. He outlined the proposals for the exhibition to be held in the Village Hall on 29th April |
| 10. | AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT |
|
The Chairman reported
on a site visit by Council Members to land situated at Jago Green/Shelby
Lane. He said that Members felt that the site did not fulfil the criteria
set down in the Affordable Housing Project in that it is not within
reasonable walking/cycling distance from the village facilities, i.e.
school and shop. In addition, the size of the sewer pipe was insufficient
to cater for the proposed housing |
| 11. | MOLE CONTROL CONTRACT |
| The Clerk submitted
a 12-month contract with Jukes Pest Services in the same terms as the
previous contract in the sum of £300. He pointed out that it included
land at the Cemetery and the War Memorial Proposed Councillor Fitchford, Seconded Councillor Mrs. Morlidge 'That the contract be agreed' So resolved, nem con It was further agreed that, should the need arise for the removal of moles from the Playing Fields, then that should be separately negotiated with Mr. Jukes |
| 12. | COMMENTS/OBSERVATIONS FROM COUNCILLORS |
| Councillor Mrs.
Morlidge Said that the Environment Agency had recently conducted a survey of the culvert under The Green. A video had been made and this could be viewed by arrangement Referred to the Planning Permission in respect of Sycamore House, White Horse Hill and queried if it would be possible to include a provision for laying a pavement Councillor Hobbs said that it would not be possible to add such a provision after the grant of the Permission Said that she was concerned about the condition of the Cemetery, in particular the two shrubs growing out of the graves and the Yew Tree in the centre It was agreed to obtain quotations for the work, also to include the hedge bordering Park Lane Referred to the
defective street light in The Green at the junction of The Knob and
said that she had spoken with Graham Penfold of ABB. He had indicated
to her that the column could be repaired by a simple welding job Expressed his appreciation of the work carried out by the County Council in replacing the stiles on Public Footpaths by Kissing Gates Councillor Stammers Said that he had received an e-mail from Mr. Ken Chatland to the effect that a quantity of hardcore had been deposited on the abandoned part of Kings Lane adjacent to the Fruit Farm, now used as a cycleway Councillor Hobbs asked to be given details and he would make enquiries Councillor Hobbs Said that the County Council intended to carry out remedial work to alleviate the problem of flooding in School Road following the completion of work on Luscombe Culvert Referred to the
re-submitted Planning Application for the Old Bakehouse, The Green and
said that he would support the proposal |
