Why do women always go on about not doing enough family duties over the weekend,Dont you realise that we need our time on the rink to let a little steam out.So Mrs Clifton please leave my fellow bowler alone and let him enjoy the rest of his life playing with his buddys!!!

Well done the Avon! They recorded a good win in the Joe Edkins on Snipe territory last night and with the other match, played at the ABC by the River, winning there as well. Snipes were not on top form last night and with a little help from some misfortunes, ABC won through.

Lovely sunny evening, ideal for bowls, the game was played out competitively. Pity Jason and the Boys were not represented on their own green....might have been a different story....or would it?

Hi All

As you know we have to raise a few quid this year to enable us to buy goals etc and play in Snit.

We are doing a raffle with prizes such as 3 day break in Cornwall, meal for two at Sorrentos in Stratford, free glider flight, Traditional Farm Hamper and much more.

It is only £1 a ticket so if anybody would like any or knows of people that might let me know!!

Bowls Club's Honours Boards

As Chad would say, Wot's going on here, then?

Hearing of the alleged Committee's decision to remove the Honours Boards without the consent of the Hon Members of Snitterfield Bowls Club from the Main Function Room, might I, as Captain for 2008, suggest that this a step too far.

Those Boards represent years of history and achievement by members past and present; also the stalwart service that the officers of the bowls club have undertaken. This is most definitely the way other clubs indicate their successes etc.

Quite some feeling has been generated and it is a great shame if we are to be losing them. I am sure someone can reply confirming or otherwise. I hope it is not a shock to many not currently aware of the plans.

If parity is being sought with other sections of the club, might one suggest that there is nothing to stop them having their honours boards going up. We would then be a Sports Club with a widespread representation visibly on show.

If it is only rumour ... read more

To try and bring a little sanity and sensible debate to this forum I shall be resigning as Kineton League Captain as from the end of this season.

Therefore, I think it far better to use this site to start a hunt for the next person to take the reigns of this very demanding position.

I propose that people nominate a particular individual but clearly state why and for whatever reason they think they deserve this top position.

It should be interesting and clearly a better use of this site to date.

Well we are here and getting slowly p*&%*&d. Davey and Debs have done everyone proud, I thought their arrangements with the hotel were very good in getting the urinal lowered for litlle John.
Dewey's got it right by booking his missus into another hotel.
Dave Stevens has run out of holiday money cos he's bought everybody in Jersey a drink - the pilot on the way over liked his duty free also.
Ron Walmsley has been banned from hiring a car on the island cos there's too many junctions.
Mike Green got very upset when having a drink before dinner cos somebody spilt red wine on his slippers!!! and I'm not joking.
Anyway enough for now, be in contact again tomorrow.

Give us some feedback on what's occurring in Snitterland.

You have got to love it, all this talk of young blood on the green, and the SBC's youth policy :D

Says it all about bowls really, your youth policy is a few overweight, middleaged drunks lol (no offence jason!!!)

Your youngest player is Wiley, who didnt even get a mention, but he still has the mind of a 40year old...we like to think of him as a miniture Simon cowell with his shirt tucked in

I too take delight in the fact that S.B.C has had an enormous amount of new (young) bowlers join with such will and determination to win.
Compared to many clubs on the circuit who are struggling to get new players and with the natural demise of their members, we should delight in the strength of our club. However, I agree with the comment from the experienced bowler to DAVID BRYANT’s comment...... if you want war you’ve got it.

Let’s just see how these young bucks are going to do in the club comps, lets go through each of them.

BOOTHY .....I know doesn’t fall into the category of young bowler, but he’s relatively a new bowler, but can you see him winning the 4 wood again? Judging from his recent games I’ll be surprised to see him get through the first round against Mike Uzzel.

J. NIBLETT.... Thinks he’s god’s gift to bowling, when he wins.....Always with another 3 EXPERIENCED BOWLERS I hasten to add. No rink games in club comps matey.

I.CLIFTON.... Only joined because ... read more

IT HAS BEEN BOUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THERE ARE FEW NEW YOUNG BUCKS ON THE BOWLS TEAM MAKING STEADY PROGRESS, THE BIGGEST HINDRANCE TO THEIR FUTURE ENJOYMENT OF THE GAME IS THE RUBBISH FORM OF THE SO CALLED EXPERIENCED MEMBERS. PULL YOUR ACT TOGETHER OR IT'S OFF TO THE AVENUE FOR US!

Well done to all who have contributed to the resounding success of the Snitterfield Colts, culminating in another marvellous season, and trophy for the Under 15's.
Nothing is ever achieved without a great deal of hard work from unsung heroes. Keep it up and with a little luck some more silverware will be forthcoming I'm sure.

Well, it is nice to hear that some recognition of the slaughter of my family is in evidence. I have been campaigning for some time now to get a safer driving campaign on the go instead of the terrible massacre.

If you see one along the road side just give it a wide berth, eh? They, after all are only boys and on a night out!

Many thanks for the website to allow the subject matter. Brock

Well, it had to happen - the challenge of Edith v Chocie on the snooker table. A budding star is the Eastern Star called Edith Yin Wah who created havoc with chocie's concentration by borrowing his cue all the game and also tracking his score with her own inimitable style. Result? Well Chocie got there but only 68 42. WOW! The final black was a length of the table shot about eight inches from the pocket....it went in sweet as anything Edith potted it of course, chocie cannot see that far!. Having celebrated with great joy, glee and hugs and kisses the pair retird to the Bar to refresh the parts snooker cannot!

Nice evening although an elderly gent 'robbed' chocie demanding of him money for a Social Membership. We need to get the Subs both in value and timing to some sort of order. Any comments to the box on the bar!

The eve of New year proved to be a great day, with lots of people from the village turning up for the Eileen Booth Memorial match in which the wannabees became the are's and defeated all 32 tons of the hasbeens.

As the has beens got changed; there was no sight of the younger, slimmer, meaner wannabees;) until 5 minutes before kick off, they strolled in, got changed and stepped onto the pitch.

It was then that we saw a stunning sight, not jason in his tight top, but the wanabees play football.

For the past month or so, several members of this team recieved abuse, the most common comments coming from certain members of the hasbeens were

youre gonna get thrashed, it wont even be close Mr L Nibbo
You wont even score a goal Mr J Nibbo
im coming up tomorrow to watch you chavs get stuffed Mr Wrinkley Ray Lawrence

So to their dismay, the chavs went 1-0 up after 10 minutes. This led to hasbeens to bring on all 5 subs, for what was proably the 1st of about 462 substit... read more

Get yourselves to the playing field for the game of the century on New Years Eve!!!
The inaugural-that's first for you Jase-'Eileen Booth Memorial Match'.
This has been billed as 'Hasbeens/Legends versus Wannabees/Chavs' but it's more important than that. Pride and 12 months of bragging rights are at stake!!!
Can we get Puskas(Cliffy)in a Kit or a Kitkat?
Will Jase roll the pitch first, during or after the game?
Will Nic be able to control his fearsome temper under the constant barrage of banter or risk a sending off and a life ban?
All these questions and many more need to be answered so be there or be square!!!

We need someone like Red Adaire to get us into action. How can we start up an Action Committee? Let us meet in the Snipe Bar on Monday nights to digest the previous weekend's result and to steer the Club (Blues) into action. Even Villa fans are welcome, as we just do the opposite of what they suggest!
