PROJECT DEVELOPMENT GROUP UPDATE

DECEMBER 06 Improvement project development group (PDG) formed - representatives from each sports section, village based architect and sports consultant (both honorary)
JANUARY 07 Village sports opinion survey and front page SNIPE feature
MARCH 07 Village open meeting and discussions and front page SNIPE feature
APRIL 07 Each of the four sports sections produces/revises their development plan
APRIL- JUNE 07 Series of PDG meetings to confirm improvement project content
Consultations at the Club with:-
  • Coventry/Solihull/Warwickshire sports partnership representative (re. funding potential)
  • CSWSP Disability officer (re. access and disability - access audit sent to club)
  • Stratford on Avon DC community services officer (re district council support)
JUNE 07 Proposals and plans on display at Village Fete
JULY 07 Club enrolled as an Environmental body to qualify for Landfill Tax Credit grant
JULY 07 Major project to refurbish and extend clubhouse, new changing rooms, new synthetic grass pitch, car parking and external works costed by QS at £1.2M
JULY 07 School/Club links contract signed by club chairman and primary school head
JULY 07 Presentation to Warwickshire County Council Area Education Committee
AUGUST 07 Meeting at Sport England Offices (originally requested in May) - not supportive of proposals
'limited funds and Warwickshire not a deprived area'
AUGUST 07 Reality check by PDG produced reduced essential Phase 1 project of:-
60m x40m synthetic floodlit pitch, new changing rooms, showers, toilets and new tarmac area for introduction of netball and nursery tennis area/rebound wall estimated cost £440,000
OCTOBER 07 Business Plan completed. Grant applications sent to Parish Council, District Council, Football Foundation, Foundation for Sport and Arts, Biffaward (landfill tax credit). 19 personalised letters sent to national and W Midlands companies known to help fund community projects - Probable 2 - 4 month period to wait for responses
OCTOBER 07 PDG proposes all relevant club/village events to be 'All proceeds for Club Improvement Project' in support of the self help fund raising campaign
NOVEMBER 07 Visit by John Maples MP
