This year we have finished 3rd (out of 11) on 23 points. League winners were Henley A with 38 points from their 10 matches. (Guess which team deprived Henley of 40/40) Well done & thank you to all those who played |

Well, our season has ended, without having to play the last rearranged match with Littleton D because they cannot field a side. We have been given the points. Our season has been something of a roller coaster, with some defeats, a couple of draws and some resounding wins. Quite a mixed bag of results. I wish to thank everyone, again, for playing this year. It was not easy at the start especially as we had to search around for players in the early weeks. Still, we got there and the stats look like this: P W D L F A Points! 14 6 2 6 29 27 29 Not bad reading eh, with just over 2 points per match? At least we did not get relegated. Chocie wishes every player a good summer (of playing or not) and a refreshed and up-for-it gang in September. It won't be long! bye for now. |

Well, the season (Winter) is nearly over. Some aching bodies are about to celebrate, others with so much more energy are now looking forward to the Summer version. Our B Team's last match is away to the lads of Littleton on Sunday 23rd March. I will be ringing round very shortly to determine availability but already have pencilled in Clive and Will. Hoping to get Paul Herring out again. He did exceptionally well earlier in the season. I well remember the 3-setters v. Campden. Is it really all that long ago? Tempus fugit. Let'sgo out with a bang (4-0) - or at least a 3-1. Once again, A big thank you to all the guys and the lass - Emma who got our slow start off the ground. Cheers, Chocie |

The club was represented in the Warwickshire LTA Mini Tennis Red Team League which took place between January & March. 12 clubs made up the competition including strong, established clubs such as Blossomfield, Moseley, Henley-in-Arden, Solihull & Knowle & Dorridge, Snitterfield made it all the way to semi-finals day which is a credit both to the boys & girls involved (Freddie Niblett, Alex Straker, Alfie Reaper, Ben Albrecht, Lucy Thruston-Nend, Freya Schmidt-Hansen, Max Beishon)and David's coaching. |

In spite of the lovely weather the Snipes could not muster a single rubber against Whitnash who were determined to exact some revenge for our imperinence to take 2 points of them in the away leg played 18/11/07. Both sides were fielding changes. Although Chris and Chocie playing as the second pair gave a good account of themselves in the first sets of each rubber they succumbed to the more determined visitors, who it appears are in promotion spots contrary to information picked up when we played Shipston some weeks ago. Not having seen any tables printed in the Herald, we have been left unaware of the true position and that in spite of contacting the organiser to try and get some info. Our first pair was comprising Clive and the young (and now taller) Will Proctor who has had a delayed debut due to his wrist injury back in October. However their result was slightly worse. I think we have to say Whitnash wanted the win more than we did, especially with our mid-table secure pla... read more |

Well done team. A four nil was deserved and with the nice company we had from Campden it was a nice day with the weather kind to us and a four who play well together. Our first pair went to a three-setter but tired out the first pair sufficiently to enable our second pair to coast their next rubber. All part of the tennis strategy and led by the skipper playing beyond his years it was a battle well won! Cheers lads a four nil is welcome most times but when the chips are down with one or two nursing the odd injury, it bodes well for the B Team. We even have players in reserve who are especiallly the iffy start we had to the campaign. Chocie |

The team for today is Clive and Chris with Chocie and Antonio forming the other pairing. Campden are towards the bottom of the table but neverthe less usually provide stiff oposition in that they never seem to concede defeat - like us battling on until the fight is lost. Weather looks promising so if no gale force winds are about we should have a fair morning. Results later......... |

Well guys, please stay by your phones as I am about to think about the squad for Sunday's match against Campden. We are at home so no travel sickness this week. Some of us have been up 45000 feet and landed like a projected pillow on the bedroom floor! Talk about cold weather down here, the temperature up there was -80's and - 60's. Brrrrrr! With the previous result I now have selection problem. I will see how members feel.....we could do with another good result couldn't we? |

Hi Nello. Great to be back in UK and playing with you and against you, as always. Us older guys are difficult to deal with with all the tricky shots that we alone do know! Tell you what thought matey, the ladies are coming on a bundle! We should not give any quarter in future. I hear Edith calling must go.....agh! agh! |

Hi Guys. Our next match is at home on Sunday 10/2/08. It is with a 10 a.m. start (kindly accorded to us by the Committee and the members of course). Clive will be in charge as I am in foreign parts. Please give him all your support. A win, or at least a draw would be nice. We are on 18 points and fifth in the table, which means three teams are below us. One of those is Shipston, whom we managed to get a 3-1 win over on Sunday. But with a blend of youth and some experience they are no mean team. They are just below us in the table. I understand they have a match to finish off so there are points still to be added. Good luck to Clives' Heroes |

Result at Shipston

Well, it was a struggle but may be it should not have been. Clive and Tim were the first pair and managed a double with the home side's first pair; although they had a tie-break game. Chocie and Antonio were also well in command resultwise so it was 2-0 at the change. Tim and Clive were then comfortable winners albeitwith some games not going their way. However that made it 3-0 with Chocie and Antonio battling away into tie-breaking second set having gone down 4-6 in the first. With a strong start to the 3rd set running up a 3-0 it then fell away to 3-5. The set finaly going away 4-6. Still a 3-1 is better than 2-2. Well done team. We now have 18 points. Not having seen the tables, we understand from Shipston who have accessed the details, that we are 5th in the league, also 4th from bottom and not likely to be relegated. Next match is versus Ardencote at Snitterfield with a 10 a.m. start as agreed with the committee recently (last meeting). Calendar needs to be freed up f... read more |

Well, It is soon upon us, i.e. the Chinese New Year on 7th February 2008. It is Year of Rat and the Chinese have notched up 4706 compared to our 2008. Along with laquer and gunpowder we have some things to thank them for; so please say, in good Chinese fashion: Kung hei fat choy, pronounced kung hay fa choy! It means wishing you good fortune used at time of Happy New Year. Also try in Mandarin say: Ni hao, means hello. Joy gin = goodbye in Cantonese Jaijian = goodbye in Mandarin cheerio |

Well, who would have thought it? With Nello and Chocie seeing off the second pair 6-4 and 6-3 the second half would appear to hold some possiblility of a result or at least a 2-2 v the League contenders, Ilmington at overcast Snitterfield this afternoon/ evening, it was a possibility. Not to be. At 1-1 on the crossover, Nello and chocie were embattled against the first pair from the Ilmington side, the first set went to 1-6 and the second at 4-4 - so tight, but went down to a scoreline of 4-6. Notwithstanding all the battles that were going on or taking place, the Snitterfield first pair of Clive and Tim were so valiantly forcing the pace against the second pair but to no avail in the end, even using the windy conditions that prevailed, as they were 7-6 then 5-7 and finally 6-7. Things could not be so closer as the third set went to a match winning point only to have it disqualified by the first pair observers who claimed Tim to have footed the bottom of the net in making the... read more |

Hi everyone, A Happy New Year...if not too late to wish it! Match this Sunday 13/1 is 2.00 k.o. Ilmington not too happy but eventually have got their squad sorted; we have just one place to have confirmed at present. Clive, Tim, Chocie + 1. It should be an eye opener for the visitors as they play on the synthetic stuff and our hard courst will just be tsht hopefully... hard to beat us. See, my air of optimism continues into the New Year unabated. All the best of health wealth and happiness to all readers. |

Hi everyone, those in the B Team and those members of other teams. B Team has concluded the first half of the season and with one game into the second half programme, we have attained 14 points. No League results seen yet, but we cannot be bottom, surely? As there are no matches now until 13th January 2008, when we are at home again versus Ilmington, may I wish everyone a HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL HEALTY TENNIS YEAR 2008. Bless you all and keep fit for next year, it is only around the corner after all! |
