The evening that we met for Snitterfield WI's December meeting was very cold and seasonal but, fortunately, before the snow came. There was a good attendance and we were welcomed into the hall by the Committee handing around glasses of wine. The hall was looking its very best, having been recently redecorated and also festooned with Christmas decorations. The tables gleamed with white tablecloths and crackers with Poinsettias for added colour. It was lovely to greet some erstwhile members, who had been invited to join us for our Christmas meal, including Bunty Redman and Jean Jones, two nonegenarians, who find it difficult to get to regular meetings.

We were greeted by Judith Walker, our President, who informed us that the Committee are to remain the same as last year. We, then, sat down to a splendid meal cooked for us by John Wylie from the Sports Club. There was roast Turkey with all the trimmings followed by Christmas pudding, coffee and mints.

Whilst we were digesting the meal, we were entertained by our very own Pauline Brace, Sylvia Morlidge and Lindsay Rushton, who conducted us all in singing "The Twelve Days of Christmas" together with all the appropriate actions.

This was a lovely start to the Christmas celebrations and we shall look forward to our next meeting which will be 12th January 2011 when David Howe will give us a "Brief History of Dictionaries."
